Campaign Description

OUR TIME AND FUTURE

For over six (6) years, people from the community have given their time and their lives to ensure that our organization, BAMS Fest remains a cultural institution that pushes and disrupts the narrative and identity of Boston's present and future.

Boston's future has the potential of being resilient, equitable, inclusive, fair and forward-thinking - especially when it comes to supporting our work.

Supporting BAMS Fest means that you are invested in racial and social change, program accessibility, spatial justice, economic and creative workforce development, and the healing power of how artists and their work bring us all together, regardless of our differences.

Despite the challenges of a multi-tiered pandemic (health, racial, and economic), we have persevered through tears, hard work and sacrifice to ensure that we "walk our talk" of creating opportunity for audiences and artists of color to experience each other and the world they want to be in.

In 2021, we have achieved some amazing milestones:

  • Transitioned to virtual programming, including the debut of an eight (8) episodic new series called ARTDACITY,  a year-long conversational style series that explores the intersections of the arts, civic engagement and the lived experiences between Black and Brown artists, creative entrepreneurs, and communities-at-large.
  • Reached 50,000 viewers for our virtual AMPLIFY THE SOUL SERIES (BAMS Festival 2021), and presented eleven (11) local and regional music artists
  • Partnered with three (3) local Black-owned restaurants to provide one hundred plus (100)+ meals to local artists, their families and our year-around volunteers.
  • Provided forty-five (45) jobs to BIPOC/minority-owned suppliers and vendors within Greater Boston

How can you help?

General Operating Support:

Did you know that BAMS Fest staff volunteer their time? While this is noble, it is not sustainable, equitable or inclusive. We are aiming to grow our organizational capacity to a healthy and lean team of qualified people who can transition our organization into the next phase. Your support invests in our ability to elevate our "walk and talk" of racial and social change, and economic and creative workforce development

Over the next three years, we are working to equip our organization with a small shop of five (5) paid strategic thinkers and ambassadors who are excited to position arts and culture as a focal point of conversation and action.

BAMS Festival

Established in June 2018, Boston Art & Music Soul Festival became a cultural necessity of convening, connection and discovery that  built a local-to-global community in a meaningful way.

From 2022-2028, our intention is to scale this festival  to a two and a half (2.5) day experience across the 527-acre green space of Franklin Park. It will take long-term financial investment to manifest this vision - AND it is possible with your help.

Consider one of these levels to give:

  • $1,000 - Allows us to grow our organizational capacity by investing in staff to help us make our programs a success.
  • $500 - Ensures that we are able to provide a fair and equitable stipend and experience to local artists who perform at Boston Art & Music Soul Festival each year.
  • $250- Allows us to purchase and/or rent necessary equipment, materials and/or supplies necessary for the sustainability of our annual program, Boston Art & Music Soul Festival.
  • $100 - Allows us to grow and expand our new virtual program "ARTDACITY", a conversational style series that explores the intersections of the arts, civic engagement and the lived experiences between Black and Brown creative entrepreneurs and communities-at-large.
  • $50 - Covers the cost of BIPOC artists to receive at least 1 hour of professional development from industry experts on a monthly basis.
