Boy With a Ball launches youth as changemakers who ignite city-wide movements to transform hurting neighborhoods. Our work centers around a proven, asset-based model of community development called Love Your City, which involves trained volunteers going into economically disadvantaged communities in regular outreach centered on appreciative inquiry to build friendships and to learn the major challenges facing youth and their families within the community. This leads to co-creating mentoring relationships and small groups to help entire neighborhoods rise as the young people within them rise through education to reach their dreams. Over time, these efforts create opportunities for businesses, churches and other stakeholders to fund, volunteer and to provide other types of support until the community is transformed in measurable ways.

In Boston, Love Your City is growing in a housing project in Boston’s Jackson Square neighborhood with regular outreach occurring every Saturday as the team and volunteers seek to learn, build friendships, and co-create solutions that would help Jackson Square’s youth and families rise.
