Paddle Georgia 2022 will be happening this year! From June 19-25, 2022 a group of 27 paddlers, including me, will be journeying down the Chattahoochee River between Buford and Franklin, GA. As many of you may know this is a yearly trip for me and about 400 other paddlers. What you may not know is that this trip is the primary fundraiser for the Georgia River Network (GRN), typically raising about $150,000 in registration fees to fund river protection and water trail efforts. To create a COVID-19 safe experience while still promoting GRN’s efforts, this year’s participation was limited to a very small group of paddlers. The result, only about $15,000 (10%) in registration fees will be raised. To help fill the tremendous gap GRN is asking each participant to raise a minimum of $1,000 through a Canoe-A-Thon. Just like a walk-a-thon I am asking that you donate per mile that I will be paddling during Paddle Georgia 2022. Your sponsorship will help raise critical funds that will allow Georgia River Network to continue their work for clean, healthy rivers and supports efforts like…
• Engaging people in enjoying and protecting their rivers
• Building new canoe and kayak launches
• Conducting water monitoring to identify pollution problems
• Eliminating pollution problems
• Supporting more than 30 local river protection groups across the state with financial grants, training, and professional assistance
• Influencing state legislators and decision makers to establish policies that protect our rivers Please help me in raising funds to support this wonderful and dedicated group!
