Campaign Description

This past June, a group of UT students had the incredible opportunity to trek to the Muryachakwe community in Eastern Kenya, where they spent four days working alongside GivePower staff and local community members to help install electricity at the community’s primary school and health care clinic.

While getting to know the dedicated team at the clinic, the lead physician, Dr. Isaac, shared one of the facility’s greatest unmet needs: an ultrasound machine. Access to ultrasound imaging would allow expectant mothers to identify potential pregnancy complications before labor begins, enabling them to seek specialized medical care in advance. This is especially critical in a region where long travel distances and unpaved roads can make reaching higher-level health facilities during an emergency difficult.

Inspired by this need, the UT team is raising funds to supply the Muryachakwe clinic with an ultrasound machine, along with the resources needed for shipping, installation, and staff training. Together, we can help equip the clinic with a life-changing tool that will improve maternal health outcomes and strengthen access to essential health care for the entire community.
