The historic flood of 2015 was unprecedented, damaging thousands of homes. Richland County, SC was at the center of this federally declared disaster and the most impacted area in the State. Floodwaters inundated low lying areas, homes underwent considerable damage and some complete destruction. Four years later, many residents are still displaced or facing insurmountable costs to repair their homes.

​Low to moderate-income households have difficulty securing financing for necessary repairs, finding suitable rental housing, or paying for temporary housing. For the most vulnerable populations, (children and the elderly) housing damages create health hazards that can dramatically impair their quality of life. 

 We believe every resident should have access to safe and healthy housing, regardless of income 

In response to this overwhelming need, Good Samaritan Community Development Corporation (GSCDC) and YNotU2 have created the “ReCover Initiative” to assist in repairing 100 roofs for needy residents.  

Our mission is to provide repairs and installation of new roofing for low-income residents within the most impacted areas of South Carolina. We will ensure that each home is “dried in” resulting in a safer and healthier living environment.
