Hillel is the place where we can encourage pride in everyone’s “Jewish and” -- Jewish and transgender, Jewish by choice, Jewish and kosher, Jewish and… on and on. In my first semester, I have met students who show up as their full selves and make active, brave choices about how they present themselves to the world.

In a discussion on antisemitism, several students showed up wearing kippahs. Even more left with the courage to do so. One young woman said, “I was afraid to wear a kippah before this even though I wanted to, but you’ve inspired me. I feel like I can do this now.”

This is an inclusive Jewish community I am proud to support.
