- What I'm Raising Money For
We are raising money to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Konbit Sante, an organization that works to strengthen Haiti's healthcare system for the long term, working side-by-side with Haitian clinicians, administrators, and communities to build local capacity and improve health outcomes.
Amara's father, Nate Nickerson, served as Executive Director of Konbit Sante for 15 years. During his tenure and even in retirement, he spent a good part of each year in Cap Haitien working on drug and medical equipment supply chains, improving basic utilities like power and water, and helping local medical professionals improve care. He believed that all people, everywhere, deserve access to quality healthcare. Nate passed away this past spring, and supporting Konbit Sante is one of the ways we are honoring his lifetime of service.
What makes Konbit Sante unique is its philosophy. Konbit supports Haitian-led hospitals and healthcare providers, responds to needs identified by local partners, and focuses on building sustainable systems that endure long after any one project ends. Every dollar helps strengthen local healthcare capacity and ensures that communities in northern Haiti have access to better care for generations to come.
