There's something about seeing a light bulb go off, and knowing the kids figured it out. It could be a chess puzzle or Queen-King Checkmate but whatever it is, it's then all they want to do. Coaching chess for 3 years, I live for these moments and want to bring this to El Salvador.

In a country plagued with gangs, this is a chance for kids to do something else. An opportunity to play chess, have fun, and build in critical thinking skills.

I'm excited to take part in a new culture and in getting better at my Spanish. As someone who works with Big Brothers Big Sisters too, I really see kids as the future and want to give them all they can to succeed.
