In December of 2022, the Founder of Lupearls of Great Price, Dr. Renice Washington, took a mission trip to South Africa where she assisted a Christian Ministry to distribute resources to the unofficial townships or "shanty towns" of Delmas, Kliptown and Soweto. During their work, one of the teams met a young woman who had a 2-month old baby. 

The team learned she was staying nightly with anyone that would take her in because she was homeless. These unofficial townships have no running water and no electricity and when night falls those without shelter become prey. 

This Divine Appointment led Pastor Melva Henderson to reach out to her church through Facebook and asked them to assist her in purchasing a tiny home and bed for the young woman.  Within 24-hours, this young woman walked into her new home.
