Members of Team Move! Music City are working to raise funds and bring awareness to our mission, while training to run the Rock n' Roll Marathon in Nashville Tennessee! By donating to a racer you are helping to empower Nashville's' youth through our safe and inclusive running and physical activity programs! Move! Music Cities program strengthen the physical and emotional well-being of MNPS students while building healthier communities. Your miles will help Nashville youth cross their own finish lines.

Tennessee is one of six states that have childhood obesity rates significantly higher than the national rate. We know that obesity can lead to long term health effects such as heart disease, depression, chronic illnesses, sleep apnea and an overall low quality of life. The American Council on exercise stated that research has proven kids who exercise are more likely to keep exercising as adults. They continued to state research shows exercise promotes improved school attendance and enhances academic performance.

Move! Music City is an incentive running program that will teach children the importance of getting up and moving every day. Weather it is walking, running, skipping or jumping, students will move for 5-10 minutes every morning before learning occurs. Our program was piloted at Fall Hamilton Elementary in 2021. With the programs great success, we have expanded into Five Nashville Elementary Schools, serving over 2,000 students and 40 teachers!

Spring Fun Run

In 2023 we hosted our annual celebratory Spring Fun Run with over 1500 student racers. Participants enjoyed a morning of fitness and fun by running 1 mile around Two Rivers Park. Participants enjoyed a free t-shirts,snacks, water and a finisher ribbon. We are in need of Funding in order to make this run special for all of our student, our programming is completely free of charge for our schools! Your donation will help provide transportation, t-shirts, healthy snacks, participant medals and more. 

School Expansion

We hope to continue to grow and expand to make a larger impact on our Youth in Nashville. We are currently in four MNPS Schools (Paragon Mills, Ida. B. Wells, Lockeland, Warner Elementary & Crossbridge Kid Power ). Your donation will help provide incentive prizes and training to our new partner schools!

In order to make the most impact at our schools, Move! Music City hopes to be able to hire an executive director to be the face of the organization, and continue to form strong relationships with teachers and students at all of our partner schools.
