Campaign Description

Broadway Bares is a burlesque show with a modern twist created in 1992 by Tony Award winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell as a way to raise awareness and money for those living with HIV/AIDS. In its first year, Mitchell and seven of his friends danced on a New York City bar and raised $8,000. Last year, the NY show's 28th edition raised $1.9 million!

Broadway Bares was first brought to San Francisco in 2016 by former Broadway Bares dancer Deb Leamy. Now, several years later in its 4th edition: Comic Strips, this striptease spectacular is still going strong. But, to ensure continued success, we really need YOUR help!!

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS benefits programs that help mitigate the suffering of individuals in the United States affected by HIV/AIDS, and the Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation, which provides aid to and support for HIV services, hunger programs, and homeless and disenfranchised youth right here in San Francisco. There are currently over one million people in the United States living with HIV, and San Francisco alone has one of the largest HIV-positive populations in the U.S. with roughly 16,000 people living with the disease.

This online campaign is a way for dancers and other supporters to maximize funds raised in addition to what is raised at the actual benefit show, which will take place on Sunday, June 16th at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Our dancers volunteer their time, talent, and heart to support our cause, and we ask you for your support with financial contributions no matter how large or small.
