Greetings!
Our mission is Equity for All. The two strategic imperatives that focus our work are to End Oppression and to Value Everyone. We are asking for your financial support on this Giving Tuesday. Our goal is to raise $7,000. Will you give $5, $10, $100, $1000, or more to fuel this work?
This year, Speaking Down Barriers has shown up. We continued our gatherings in a virtual format, due to the pandemic, extending our geographic reach spanning the continent.
We strive for Equity for All. During the pandemic, we launched Equity School, an 11-month intensive training to Make Equity Real. Equity School is built on the principle of equity. Speaking Down Barriers provides scholarships for many participants to ensure access and diverse participation in the training. We will be concluding our first year in December and we are excited to announce we will be continuing next year!
We just recently had our 8th year celebration of Transformation Day! This was a complete day of immersive experiences, including a Living Library, a Food As Art segment that allowed for socially distant interactions and prepared meals and a Performance and Discussion finale. Truly a transformative day rooted in community and culture.
In all of our programs, whether convening a community dialogue, consulting with university administrators, or training a multinational corporate staff, we strive to End Oppression in all forms—racial, religious, sexual, classist, xenophobic, gendered, ableist, and more. Our endlessly varied identities challenge one another to think more deeply and to see each other in our full humanity.
We Value Everyone—each participant who joins in our events; those who wound us and would cause us harm; and also ourselves. We begin every gathering recognizing the fundamental and unconditional humanity of every person with whom we share this world. Through poetry and dialogue with people different than ourselves, we speak the truth that every one of us matters. Reading for Transformation for Kids, our summer program, is a way for us to show kids that we value them, and they matter.
Please consider a gift of $5, $10, $100, $1000, or more to help fuel our work. We are building a world more livable for us all—a world of Equity for All. Join us.
