United Way of Central Indiana has made investments over the last decade to expand access to pre-K in Central Indiana to ensure family income is not a barrier to educational success.

Today, that work continues – and we’re asking for your help as United Way launches the Ready to Rise campaign.

By strengthening language and literacy, critical thinking skills, self-control and building strong self-confidence, high quality pre-K programs support the foundational development of the cognitive, behavioral, and social skills necessary for a child to thrive.

Here’s something you may not know: Indiana state law requires all On My Way Pre-K student scholarships to be funded with a 5% philanthropic match. In Central Indiana, United Way has stepped up to fund that match thanks to the generous support of donors like you.

Last year, in United Way's seven-county Central Indiana community, nearly 2,000 students from low-income families received scholarship support and were enrolled in high-quality pre-k care. On average, the philanthropic match requirement totaled $112 annually per student.
