Every year, we seek applications from junior faculty members, fellows, trainees, clinicians, and advocates engaged in research, clinical care, and advocacy with a strong commitment to promoting equity and decreasing disparities in psycho-oncology. We are particularly interested in supporting applicants who identify as members of communities underrepresented in psycho-oncology, inclusive of communities of color and the LGBTQIA+ community. Ideally, prospective scholars are engaged in work related to populations who experience cancer inequities (e.g. LGBTQIA+ community, individuals with disabilities, persons of color, and rural populations, among others). 

"I can’t express enough how much the APOS Health Equity Scholars Program has meant to me. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed into a community that truly values mentorship, inclusion, and meaningful connection. Coming from a non-psycho-oncology background, I wasn’t sure how I would find my place, but this program made all the difference.

The conferences were not only enriching and inspiring, but they also introduced me to incredible people who have shaped my growth in this field. The bi-monthly scholar meetings were a grounding space, and the financial support made it possible for me to attend, learn, and bring back valuable insights to my work and my clients. Being part of the Health Equity plenary panel was a major milestone, pushing me to reflect deeply on my role in advancing equity.

None of this would have been possible without APOS’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The ripple effect of this program goes far beyond the scholars—it reaches the communities we serve.
