A City of Promise With Challenges Ahead
Dallas, Texas shines as a major economic powerhouse, home to Fortune 500 companies, a vibrant arts scene, and one of the fastest-growing populations in the nation. However, beneath the glittering skyline and rapid development lies a different story. Too many young people - especially African American and Latino youth - encounter barriers that prevent them from thriving. Issues such as mental health struggles, youth violence, and deep disparities cast long shadows over the city’s bright future, threatening to keep countless youth from realizing their God-given potential.
Who We Are
Boy With a Ball was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 2001 to address gaps in local youth programming and to develop scalable solutions. Boy With a Ball’s innovative, team-based approach trains and releases large numbers of young people as passionate volunteers into some of our city’s toughest neighborhoods. The power of presence, long-term commitment, and our willingness to learn from those we serve have borne lasting fruit.
This grassroots method has been successfully replicated across the U.S., Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Entire slums, refugee camps, and schools are becoming centers of change and development. Now, it is time to bring this proven model to Dallas.
Our Vision for Beginning in Dallas
Boy With a Ball Dallas will launch in 2025 in partnership with SubSplit Services Group, MIINC Mechanical Contractors and Stratus Systems within the Vickery Meadow community, a neighborhood facing significant challenges. The organization launches youth as changemakers who ignite citywide movements to transform hurting neighborhoods through an evidence-based approach called Love Your City.
