For the past three months, I have served as an intern with BWAB. In this role, I helped lead volunteers into Walkthroughs in the community, communicated the story of what God is doing in Boston through BWAB, and built meaningful relationships with community members and volunteers, some of which will turn into mentoring relationships or small groups.
As I’ve practiced these different pieces of Love Your City, I’ve seen how they fit into the story the Lord is writing in my life. This summer I learned that the Lord has gifted me relationally, and BWAB has really allowed me to use this gift in connecting with community members and volunteers. One of the greatest joys I found this summer was getting to hear people’s stories, and each week in LYC, we get to do not only this, but also join people in their stories by walking with them into what’s next for their lives. I also get to communicate what the Lord is doing in LYC through writing. The Lord taught me to find joy in writing while I was in college, and I didn’t see how this fit into His plan until now. The Lord is growing my relationships and I can see glimpses of the beautiful work He is doing in my heart here. I spent the first two months of my time in Boston asking the Lord if this is what he wanted- for me to step into this full time position at Boy with a Ball and stay in Boston. It wasn’t until the first week of November, while on a retreat with my church here, that I felt Him clearly say to stay in Boston with these people, so that is why I decided to stay in the city and take this position!
After spending time learning about my giftings and participating in the LYC model, I am now stepping into the position of Program Director for BWAB Boston. To prepare, I will train for this position for six weeks at the BWAB headquarters in Atlanta in January 2025 before moving back to Boston in mid-February to work in this role. My job will involve non-profit management, volunteer management and care, community outreach coordination, communications, and team development, alongside leading weekly LYC programs such as walkthroughs, mentoring, and small groups. I am excited to join this team as I am already learning so much from working with BWAB about living missionally, and I think this will be a great stepping stone towards overseas missions in the future.
If you would like to give by check, mail to BWAB Global and include my name in the memo line:
