Across this year of Love Your City, we’ve seen God move and work like never before.
He is moving in families we know in Jackson Square. Each week, conversations with families reveal situations they face that are bigger than any one of us. It’s in those moments that we turn to Jesus together and ask Him to help, since He’s the only one who has the power to help them. As we’ve turned to Him, He’s moving in ways we never could have imagined.
Recently, during Love Your City outreach, we knocked on the door of a mom we have known for two years. Throughout the time of knowing her, we have learned about her life, but our friendship wasn’t very deep. But this day, when we knocked on her door, everything changed.
She opened the door and shared that she couldn’t talk for long because she had a migraine. We could have left her door with wishes that she’d feel better, but instead, we asked if we could pray with her. What happened afterwards was a miracle as the mom got past her pain and shared about the real challenges she and her family are facing. It led to new ways of supporting her and walking with her.
When we pray and ask God to help us, we can often think that His answer will only be within the bounds of what we asked. But He showed us that He can answer and use His answer for more. Here, He used a prayer for healing to unlock new ways of walking with a mom that we couldn’t have accessed without Him, and He will continue to move in even more ways than this to change people’s lives and draw them to Himself.
He will move as our team continues to grow in size and experience spiritual breakthroughs that flow into the lives of the families we meet in Jackson Square. He will move as we launch an ESL class in the neighborhood, and we will be walking next to families like never before.
We’re going to see Him move together, but it will require a step of faith from each of us.
In this end-of-year giving season, we’re fighting to raise $40,000 to see Him move in even mightier ways next year. So give big, give in faith, and let’s find Him together.
We are so grateful for each one of you. We hope and pray that as you touch this story and join God in what He’s doing, you will see Him move like never before in your own life, too.
