We're building a bridge! I am joining forces with a team from the University of Toronto to build a pedestrian bridge in the community of Chilcani, Bolivia. I’ll be traveling to Bolivia in May and would appreciate your support!
Bridges to Prosperity provides isolated communities with access to essential health care, education and economic opportunities by building footbridges over impassable rivers. The river near Chilcani is impassable from December to March and despite this, many individuals attempt to cross it in order to obtain critical access to schools, health care, and the market to sell crops, and to go to work. Last year alone, two accidents occurred when local residents attempted to cross the river. Many individuals live off of their daily wage and missing a day’s work due to a lack of access would mean a family without food.
The daily traffic the bridge will see when completed is estimated to be 45 people, including 10 children. I am very excited to be a part of it! Funds will support my in-country travel costs, and any excess donation will help Bridges to Prosperity to pursue other opportunities to help other communities in need.
