Did you know there are over 50,000 children in Henry County? Sixty-four percent of the total population is unchurched. Over 20% of kids are in a single parent home and 59% of kids in Henry County elementary schools receive free and reduced lunch... what a mission field!
Child Evangelism Fellowship® is partnering with churches across our community to bring the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ to children in our public elementary schools through an after school Bible club called "Good News Club". In the 2017-18 school year, we reached 1,531 students and families with the message of God's love. Two hundred twenty-two of those children chose to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior this year!
Here's what some of the kids and leaders have to say about Good News Club:
"We should have GNC so we can learn about God and how He can save you." -Jaylen, 3rd grade
"One of our students gave such an overwhelming profession of faith that it brought our volunteer teacher to tears." -Shirley Simmons, Pinecrest Baptist Church
"We can learn more about history... the REAL history." -Jaysen, 3rd grade
"We have a couple kids that were in GNC several years ago and seeds were sown. These girls are now in middle school and just began coming to church with their entire family." -Angie Benton, Stockbridge Community Church
"We get to sing songs & be with my friends & learn about Jesus. Good News Club is important so they can learn about God. He is holy and has the power to do anything." -Khyeer, 1st grade
"Our principal is seeing the difference we are making!" -Teresa Wasdin, Salem Baptist Church
"I like learning new things about Jesus... because I'm thinking about believing in Him." -Layla, 3rd grade
"I had a first grader ask if Jesus was a real person. Gave me an opportunity to reinforce that all the stories we are teaching every week are from the Bible which is God's Word and 100% true, and all the people we talk about in the Bible are real people. After I shared the Gospel with him, he prayed to ask Jesus into his heart. We have until the end of the school year to water and nourish the seeds that have been planted!" -Pat Mobley, Oakland Baptist Church
There are six elementary schools currently without a Good News Club:
-Locust Grove Elementary
-Luella Elementary
-Red Oak Elementary
-Stockbridge Elementary
-Tussahaw Elementary
-Wesley Lakes Elementary
Would you consider giving to help us reach our goal of funding more clubs for the 2018-19 school year?
