Campaign Description

SOLRAD (noun) sol∙rad | sōl-răd  –

1. a wavy line in illustration (especially comics) that represents light and/or warmth emanating from the sun or other light sources.

2. a literary magazine for comics founded in 2020

Two years after our initial wave of publications, we're asking for your help to keep SOLRAD afloat. If you think that comics criticism is worth supporting, or if you are reading what we're publishing, we really need your help to keep doing what we're doing. Our goal is $7500, which will cover payments to writers and cartoonists, pay for hosting and other fees, and support the development of new media in 2022 and early 2023.

The Editorial and Publishing team consists of four folks, all of whom dedicate their time and money to keeping the literary magazine running. Unfortunately without additional funding, we won't be able to continue to pay authors and continue to do what we're doing.

SOLRAD is a nonprofit online literary magazine dedicated to the comics arts. Run completely by a volunteer staff, SOLRAD publishes original content ranging from comics criticism, original comics, essays, interviews, and the promotion of small-press events and releases. The site is a platform for new, underrepresented, and otherwise marginalized creative voices, in addition to commissioning work from well-established cartoonists, critics, journalists, and authors.

SOLRAD is published by Fieldmouse Press, a 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit.
