  • Help Bring Solar Power to Empower Women and Strengthen Conservation Efforts in Uganda
Campaign Description

In Buhoma, Uganda, two organizations are uplifting women, protecting endangered wildlife and strengthening community well-being. Both need reliable electricity to continue their life-changing work. Together, we can help them get the power they need.

Project 1: Ride 4 a Woman

The Ride 4 a Woman Community Center supports women in Buhoma, Uganda experiencing extreme poverty, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, single motherhood, widowhood and limited educational opportunities. Through employment, microfinance and skill-building, this organization helps women gain independence and build sustainable livelihoods.

After GivePower installed a solar system in 2024, Ride 4 a Woman gained reliable electricity for the first time, unlocking opportunities that were once out of reach. With steady power, they expanded programs, increased income for women, strengthened community development and launched an online shop to sell handmade goods worldwide.

Now, they’re ready for the next step. To continue growing, Ride 4 a Woman needs electric water heaters to support tourist lodging and continue promoting their initiatives. These upgrades will open the door to more opportunities, more independence and a stronger local economy for women and their families.

Project 2: Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH)

Located in the same village, Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people, gorillas, livestock and other wildlife safely coexist in and around Africa’s protected areas. Their work strengthens the health of endangered mountain gorillas, protects fragile ecosystems, advances sustainable tourism practices and transforms community health through conservation efforts, research and community health initiatives.

CTPH’s impact is currently limited by unreliable electricity. A new solar system will provide the consistent power needed to preserve sensitive research samples, use advanced equipment and expand their eco-tourism camp. This will significantly increase income that supports future conservation work and advocacy. With reliable energy, CTPH can deepen its mission of protecting endangered wildlife, improving community health and building a more sustainable future for the region.

The Solution: We’re working hand in hand with GivePower to install two solar-powered systems that will strengthen women’s livelihoods, expand conservation efforts and support long-term community development in Buhoma. These systems will:

  • Provide reliable electricity for both organizations
  • Power electric water heaters to improve tourist lodging
  • Power advanced equipment used for conservation research
  • Strengthen eco-tourism, generating income that strengthens local economies and fuels future community and conservation programs

Your Impact: By joining us in funding these projects, you’re powering real change in Buhoma, Uganda. You’re helping women gain independence and build stable livelihoods while also protecting endangered wildlife and strengthening health across the region.

Together, we can spark change that will last for decades to come.
