My name is Connor McDermott. I am a Life Scout in Troop 89 Medfield. I am working on my Eagle Project. I plan to build three memory benches for Jeff’s Place. Jeff’s Place is a bereavement center for families. I chose Jeff’s Place as the beneficiary for the benches because I attended Jeff’s Place twice a month for three years after my father passed away in 2019.
I will be building three benches in memory of three parents of scouts in my troop who have passed from cancer, including my dad. At Jeff’s Place request, I will install one bench at the front corner of the property where there is a bus stop, this will allow for kids and families to have somewhere to sit. I will put stone pavers under the bench and plant flowers around it. Jeff’s Place requested that the other two benches be movable and placed at the side of the house so they can be used for clinical group meetings and events.
I would love to have the benches installed before the annual memory walk held in late October. I enjoy participating in this event because along the walking route there are signs posted with questions/topics so you can talk about your loved one while walking.
I am requesting donations of any amount to help me succeed in my journey to Eagle Scout. Any funds raised in excess of the amount needed for the benches and landscaping will be donated to Jeff’s Place to help grieving families like mine.
