This GIVING TUESDAY and during our End-Of-Year appeal, we are looking to our community to help us raise $150,000.00 for the BRAND NEW and our VERY FIRST, Safehouse/Extended Stay Home. Kingdom Builders Family Life Center is so excited to bring this much needed and long awaited new program to the Colorado Springs community.

Kingdom Builder’s Family Life Center will now provide safe and secure emergency housing for survivors of domestic violence and their children.

The new home has 1560 Sq. Ft. of living space, and will allow for 2 families, a mother with children and an additional double use room for 2 women in need. Although the location will of course remain confidential, the home is located centrally in Colorado Springs. This home is just the beginning of what Kingdom Builders hopes to be able to offer when it comes to housing for families in need.

Adults who need emergency housing will first call the crisis line and talk with an advocate. The advocate will assess their situation, and if space is available, assist the caller to come into the shelter. Necessities are provided by the shelter program, including bedding, food, personal hygiene items, and basic medical care.

KBFLC Extended Stay Program is open to current Emergency housing residents only who are out of crisis but require additional time, between one to three months, to pursue affordable housing, employment, childcare and other resources essential to establishing stability. The scattered site houses will offer families privacy and independence as they work on their self-identified goals and continue to heal from the trauma of abuse.

KBFLC board of directors are happy to see this next step for the organization and know that this has been a goal of Mrs. Jenkin’s for some time. In fact, the board has really stepped up to try to help begin to furnish the home and get it ready for January 1st, 2021. And the staff at KBFLC are busy getting all the details in line and making sure the organization is ready for their first Safe House! 

The lease for KBFLC began November 15th, 2020, and the home is expected to open its doors as soon as January 1st, 2021. Donations, sponsors and volunteers are very much needed, according to Lisa. They have a goal of raising $150,000.00 towards this new program.
