Konbit Sante is turning 25 this year. The organization plays a vital role providing support to health systems in Northern Haiti. I have volunteered for the organization for several years now, supporting research, teaching, and proposal initiatives. The majority of the organization's finances are used to pay health worker salaries, procure medicine and equipment for our 4 partner health centers, and to provide continuing education opportunities to doctors and nurses at our partner health centers. Without our support, these health centers would not have access to essential life saving medicines, medical equipment such as incubators which are necessary for neonate survival, solar panels for electricity, and training on pediatric emergency care.

Haiti has experienced extreme unrest with gangs controlling the capital city and spreading to other major cities. Thousands of Haitians have been displaced, kidnapped, or killed and without a functioning government and withdrawing support from international agencies, the country's medical system is in dire need of support. Donating to Konbit Sante will allow us to provide our partner health centers the supplies and human resource support they need to continue functioning. Many Haitians are coming to these centers for care as other major hospitals and clinics have been shut down or are controlled by gangs.
