Mothers for Postpartum Justice

Mothers for Postpartum Justice (MPJ) (previously Mothers-for-Mothers Postpartum Justice) is an intergenerational and Black-led organization of community members who are building a world where the postpartum journey is collective, not isolated and where Black mothers and birthing people are honored with nourishing, dignified, and culturally rooted care.

Mothers for Postpartum Justice (MPJ) exists to:
Provide a culturally rooted, postpartum experience Black mothers and birthing people are too often denied; essential items, nourishment, and community connection, in response to systemic racism.

Our NOURISH! program provide coordinate 6 -12 weeks of postpartum meal deliveries in partnership with local Black Centering midwifery prenatal programs in the Bay Area.

Our partnerships center BIPOC restaurants and Chefs serving cultural foods that are warming, nourishing, and strengthening for the postpartum body.

Our NURTURE program gathers essential products needed during the beginning of the postpartum journey. Participants enrolled in Beloved Birth Black Centering are the recipients. Gifting them with these bags, reminds the mamas of the cultural practice of resting and healing after birth.

HUGs program partners with local black-owned restaurants to provide safe spaces for new mamas to gather weekly over a free warm meal, to socialize during the often isolating experience. Parents will have access to a culturally rooted community and mental health resources.

Our organization also partners with community members passionate about reproductive and postpartum justice.

We are engaging community, corporations, and academia in support of the needs and care of pregnant and postpartum people.
