At the beginning of the pandemic, Maroon Calabash and Prism Birth Services partnered to support coordinated midwifery and doula support for Milwaukee area folks expanding their families, centering their postpartum wellness, and healing from unexpected loss and reproductive trauma.

Along with every other area of our lives, the pandemic has impacted already muddy pathways for folks to access inclusive prenatal care, safe birthing environments, expert trained prenatal education, labor support, and adequate postpartum care. That is especially true for Black and Brown communities.

Your donation supports Maroon Calabash and Prism Birth Services in our shared vision of providing increased emergency midwifery care, doula support, infant feeding education, and resource distribution for pregnant, postpartum, and releasing bodies and families in and around Milwaukee, Wisconsin during these uncertain and isolated moments in our lives.

We put your donation to work! Not only does your support help us meet the increased need for home birth midwifery care and in or out of hospital doula support it also supports the economic stability and the bodily and spiritual wellness of Black birth-workers as we engage with systems that restrict, surveil, and dehumanize the needs and care of Black bodies. Black birth-workers have been historically underpaid leading to a standard of harmfully low living wages. Your support of this fund also supports birth-worker wellness, resilience, and movement building.
