Homes destroyed. Lives taken. Hearts shattered.
On October 7th, 2023, a magnitude of 6.3, one of the deadliest earthquakes in over two decades, struck the province of Herat, Afghanistan. The country has reported 2,400 people dead and over 2,000 people injured. Of those injured, two-thirds are made up of Women and Children. The health care system in Afghanistan is heavily reliant on foreign aid, which has experienced massive cuts in the last couple of years under the Taliban regime. The people of Afghanistan, the people of Herat, are in desperation for aid.
We are calling out to each member of our global community to provide their support to this emergency humanitarian crisis. Mobaligh Education Foundation ("MEF") is hosting an Emergency Relief Fundraiser to provide aid and assistance to the people of Herat. All contributions will be sent to our affiliated organization MESSO in Afghanistan, working directly with the established rescue teams in Herat. Contributions will be used to provide food packages, non-food essential items (hygiene kits and clothing), and emergency equipment such as a family-sized tent.
