Dear friends and family of the Proctorsville Fire Department, 

One year ago, you responded to our letter campaign with support that helped us exceed our $7,000 fundraising goal.  Let us again say THANK YOU.  

Let us share what is new…

Our membership has grown to over 30 members, which is, without question,  the largest active roster in our history.  We now have 2 EMT’s in our membership and 12 Vermont Emergency First Responders.  This level of training allows us to support and augment the response of Ludlow ambulance to our coverage area and give our residents and visitors a high level of care within minutes of a call to 911. 

This winter, we took delivery on our brand new Engine 2, a beautiful custom cab built by Toyne.  The truck not only accommodates more personnel en route to a call, but also has a number of technological advances such as cordless, battery powered vehicle extrication tools.   The truck also carries two brand new SCBA units, purchased with funds donated by YOU!

While our membership and our resources are in great health, it does not mean we can relax or get complacent.  On the contrary, we must constantly be looking ahead to how we can be prepared for any emergency that we are faced with.  We once again have a GOAL OF RAISING $7,000.  

We are working towards the purchase of an ATV unit for accessing off-road emergencies, such as fires and search and rescue situations.  PFD is also working to train our members in Tactical Emergency Casualty Care and outfit them with ballistic helmets and bullet proof vests.  It is shocking to think about, but preparation for the unlikely event of catastrophic mass-violence is an unfortunate, but real, responsibility we now have.
