This Giving Tuesday, we’re shining a light on an essential part of our mission: expanding educational opportunities for students in rural Nicaragua through our After-School Clubs.

Every child deserves a safe place to learn, a classroom that stays dry when it rains, and safe drinking water at school and at home. With the help of our supporters and community partners, we have established that foundation in two communities that saw great need.

But we also see that students need more support, attention, and encouragement to keep learning and stay in school. 

With one teacher often responsible for 35–40 students from multiple grade levels, individualized attention is rare. When students fall behind, they can lose confidence quickly, and once that happens, they are far more likely to leave school altogether.

That’s why in 2021, we expanded our mission by launching an After-School Club program. 

Since then, our programs have: 

• Served 250 students
• Provided hundreds of hot, nutritious lunches 
• Expanded to 2 communities 
• Trained six community volunteers 

This Giving Tuesday, our goal is to fund two after-school clubs for next year.

Each program costs just $3,000 per school to operate for a whole year, covering hot lunches, supplies, arts and crafts, and the one-on-one tutoring that leads to higher retention rates, better grades, and more confident students.

That’s $6,000 total to fuel brighter futures in two communities for one year.
