This #GivingTuesday, REMM is continuing the Christmas Agape Boxes tradition!
An Agape Box is filled with pantry staples--things like flour, oil, sugar, and rice, as well as cabbage and potatoes, and cleaning products like dish soap and laundry detergent--and delivered to needy families.
Last year, we personally delievered these boxes to needy families, some we never even met before. We knocked on their door and shyly asked, "Sorry to bother, but we're delivering some boxes with food to people, and we were wondering if you'd like one? Oh, it's free." No one said no, and they always asked with a smile on their faces why we would do such a thing as deliver free food and not want anything in return.
We explained that we worked for a ministry, and that people from the U.S. donated money to buy Agape Boxes to give to people who really need it.
We weren't really sure how people would react, sure it's a charitable act, but it's just a box of food, we thought. Well, we thought wrong. Of course for people like ourselves who don't have to worry if tomorrow we have food on the table, it's just a box of food. But for others it's literally an answered prayer. A worry erased for a bit.
Our goal this Christmas is to deliver Agape Boxes for 50 families! An Agape Box is $40 per box, and should last around 1 month for a family of 4.
Please consider donating this #GivingTuesday to REMM's #AgapeBoxes. Thank you so very much!
