On Sunday October 28th I'm running the Dublin City Marathon in an attempt to raise €1450 (one month's rent in Aplha community centre) for Samos Volunteers.
As many of you may know I spent nine months last year working as the Education Coordinator of Samos Volunteers in a voluntary capacity. Since arriving home just over a year ago, I have continued to do a little bit of work remotely for the organisation in a Project Support role.
Despite the lack of media coverage (particularly here in Ireland) the conditions on the reception islands have never been worse. The camps are extremely overpopulated and with the dropping temperatures over the next few weeks, the lives of the men, women and children seeking refuge.
It means that SV's resources are really been stretched and tested. We are supporting more people and running more projects than ever. We rely entirely on private donations so your generosity really does go a long way.
Thank you immensely for your contribution, your donation will make each kilometre of the 42 that little bit easier!
In solidarity,
Donal
