St. Lydia’s is a life-line to many congregants and newcomers who wander through the door at 304 Bond Street, or on Zoom. 

This was never more true than in the past year of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of this campaign, we’ll be sharing brief stories from congregants about how St. Lydia’s matters to them.  This video is from drummer, writer, and Leadership Table Chair, Jacob Slichter.  

As New York reopens, St. Lydia's is stepping into a moment of possibility. 

We’ve called a new pastor. We're safely sharing a sacred meal at 304 Bond Street. We’re offering a wide and deep welcome to newcomers and old friends. And importantly, we’re experimenting with ways to continue growing, including deepening our relationship to the divine and one another through liturgy, arts and music, offering joyful space for neighbors, and imagining new ways to pursue justice in the neighborhood, city, and world. 

As a marker of this last commitment, to justice in the neighborhood, 

we are dedicating 10% of this campaign to the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice, of which St. Lydia’s is a partner. GNCJ centers the leadership of Black women who are residents of Gowanus and Wyckoff Garden Houses as part of an organizing effort to push the city towards just rezoning in the Gowanus neighborhood. Together, we’re going to raise $30,000 to sustain St. Lydia’s through the end of the year. 

While the pandemic resulted in a significant loss of income for St. Lydia's as we weren't able to rent out our space, we know that together we can make up for lost ground. The good news is St. Lydia congregants already raised $5,000 in a June friendraiser effort. And generous donors have given $7500 in matching funds so your gifts will be doubled! Donor giving is a crucial component of St. Lydia’s, and it is your support that has gotten us through to the other side of this challenging time.
