Campaign Description

Goodbye Christian...hello Interim!

At the end of June, St. Lydia’s says goodbye to our pastor Christian Scharen, and welcomes a new interim pastor to help lead the church into its next chapter.

During this season of transition, our community continues to thrive. Each week we gather at the table – breaking bread and sharing our stories. This is a time of both opportunity and challenge, as the congregation continues to grow and change (as does our Gowanus neighborhood in Brooklyn).

Thanks to donor and congregant generosity, we have already raised over $1,000 for the Building Bridges summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by the end of June to help fortify the church's costs of operation, including food for dinner church, building rent, utilities, and our capacity to welcome community members into our storefront space.

If St. Lydia's holds a special place in your heart, whether you attend weekly or not, we invite you to help bolster our strength during this season of transition. There are many ways to do that, including giving a one-time donation to this campaign, visiting stlydias.org/support and creating a recurring monthly donation so that we can have a sturdier budget to finish out the year, keeping us in your prayers, and joining in the life of the congregation at Dinner Church or Waffle Church services, or other gatherings at our storefront at 304 Bond St. This will be a time when no helping hand goes amiss as we join together to grow in love and community.

When you give to St. Lydia's,
You connect neighbors,
Break down boundaries,
Feed hungry souls,
Bring healing and justice.

You set a table in Brooklyn.
You change the future of the Church.

Thank you.
