Dear Friend,
Every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported, especially during the holidays. For a decade, the Fort Worth Police Department has brought joy to less fortune kids through their “Shop with a Cop” holiday event. Shop with a Cop was created to do more than provide holiday gifts. It creates meaningful opportunities for children and police officers to spend time together in a positive, personal setting to build relationships, break down barriers, and strengthen trust between youth, law enforcement, and the communities they serve.
Through the leadership of Officer Tracy Carter, in partnership with Fort Worth Police Department, HOPE Initiative, and Wrap Around Resources, this annual event brings together children from under-resourced communities for a day centered on dignity, joy, and connection. Each participating child receives a $100 Walmart gift card and shops alongside a police officer. What begins as a shopping experience often becomes something much more meaningful: conversations, laughter, shared experiences, and relationships that can leave a lasting impression on both the child and the officer.
After shopping, families gather for a warm meal and gift wrapping, turning the day into a celebration of connection and community spirit. It’s more than a holiday gift—it’s a powerful reminder to children that they matter, their community cares about them, and the officers who took an oath to protect and serve them are committed to building trust and meaningful connections. This year marks our 10th anniversary, and our goal is to serve 500 children across Fort Worth. Your tax-deductible donation through the HOPE Initiative will directly fund gift cards and event supplies, helping us continue this powerful tradition of unity and hope.
On behalf of the children and families we serve, thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference. Together, we can ensure that every child we reach feels valued, cared for, and celebrated this holiday season. If you would like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities or how you or your business can partner with us, please contact Officer Tracy Carter at 817-682-1901 or tracy.carter@fortworthtexas.gov. Take care and stay safe!
With gratitude,
Dr. Robert Harper
