POPS in Schools is a nine-year-old supplemental music education program serving twelve School District of Philadelphia schools and 3,000 students.
Each school has a unique program tailored to the expressed needs of its location. The POPS provides bilingual music education materials and teaching artists to schools and after-school programs with a significant percentage of Spanish heritage students, beginning its first New Jersey program in 2019.
Formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, POPSinSchools@Home, a virtual supplemental program, brings POPS Musicians and Teaching Artists out of the concert hall and classroom and into the comfort of your home! Create your own instruments out of household materials for a jam session, get to know the stories of legendary Philadelphia musicians, and learn about different genres of music with your POPS family. With new content each week on a variety of topics, POPSinSchools@HOME brings the universal language of music to students of all ages!
