Thirst Relief

One An Army are partnering with Thirst Relief once again to raise funds to help children in Uganda. The money collected will be used to install water filters in each of these children's homes. Because these kids have no access to clean water at home (A huge number of the children have no food either), they can't wash their hands and maintain their hygiene, which is extremely important at the moment especially during this COVID-19 outbreaks globally.

The founder of this school, Fred Njuya, was raised by his Grandma. His father gone, and his mother unable to give him food and clothing, Fred grew up knowing hunger and desperation. By age four he began suffering from typhoid fever. The pain of typhoid haunted him until he was finally given a Thirst Relief BioSand Filter at the age of 44 years. One day Fred found out that mothers of little babies all around him part of Kampala Uganda were forced to leave their babies in their apartments and homes with no one to watch them while they worked at a local factory for very little (less than 1 dollar a day). Their babies left to cry all day with no food, no water, no clothes. Fred cried for a week when he heard about this. He then rallied people around him to start Gracom Education Center.

They have walls, but no windows. The food the school has is what Fred and his wife grow in their yard. The children literally have the clothes you see in the photo above for school. When we saw their situation and verified through our BioSand Factory management in Kampala that this was a real need, we decided to act. And we were in process of doing this project when the CoVID 19 situation happened. And now BTS One in An Army is stepping up to help finish this task! How grateful we are for you. Not only will these children have a chance, but they will be the future “Freds” of Uganda. They will fix their nation’s troubles.

There are 120 children at risk.(Their current water home supplies exposing them to Typhoid Fever) This project will provide a safe water biosand filter in each of their homes. Then they will be able to wash their hands to help prevent COVID 19.

$100 provides 1 biosand filter with delivery, installation and training and will provide 10 to 20 people with a safe water source for washing their hands. They will be installed in their homes so that during isolation and afterwards the children and mothers can have safe water not only at school but at home too.

The BSF(Biosand Filter) does not kill SARS-CoV 2, but it gives them a safe way to wash their hands and stop the spread of sickness if they have soap. Let's give them a chance to win this fight A.R.M.Y!

When they have these biosand filters it will provide clean water for between 500 and 1000 people in their homes and near their homes that will last for over 30 years.
