In Memory of our fallen Brethren, Urban GreenWorks has decided to create The George Woods Project. George Woods was a kind, loving soul who worked diligently and tirelessly to spread his love of nature to as many folks as possibe. He worked primarily creating raised bed garden spaces, food forests, "Pollinator Pathways", "Hammocks in Da Hood", and other green projects for residents, churches, and schools. He loved to share his knowledge of plants and nature with everyone, especially those who lacked the means to see their projects actualized. George was "The Great Actualizer". 

For the first Miami-based installation, UGW is collaborating with one of the oldest Black owned churches in the historic African-American community of West Coconut Grove, The United Christian Church of Christ. We will work with residentas and members to create a community gardening space where younger and elder residents can come together and begin to bridge generational gaps through agriculture.

We have donated $500 to kick-off this project ($300 from your generous donations and $200 from UGW).

Young residents will learn agricultural as well as geo-mapping skills. Elder residents will provide expertise to local youth and volunteers in creating the garden space. They will also receive training in farmers market management. The foundation for this effort has been laid and now its time to get to urban green works!

The works performed through The George Woods Project tie directly into UGW's 360 GreenPrint, which is a sustainable and replicable best-practiced model of Community Food Security.
