I’m riding in USARC’s Peak-to-Peak fundraiser to help keep adaptive recreation available for kids and adults who live with physical or cognitive disabilities.
The United States Adaptive Recreation Center in Big Bear Lake is the only program of its kind in the region. Through winter lessons at Bear Mountain and summer programs on the lake, people with spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, amputations, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, and many other challenges get to ski, snowboard, water ski, kayak, and more—with the right equipment and instruction.
This ride helps pay for that specialized gear, trained instructors and volunteers, and keeps program costs low so more people can participate. I’m jumping in later than I’d like, but I’m committed to doing my part.
