Campaign Description

UPDATE: With only a few weeks left and finding out our/this FUNdraising platform wasn't a big hit, we have jumped ship and moved back over to our trusty Eventbrite page (link below this paragraph). If you plan on creating an apocalypse team, we'd recommend staying here and donating through this page. Either way, there's no right or wrong and we're happy to have you!

Before we get too far, we want to "THANK YOU" for your participation and joining the Movement! Regardless if you dress up, we are grateful you have found us and have a passion to help the world!

What exactly is a "zombie?"

A zombie is a mood, status or feeling!

A "zombie movement,"

Is an all inclusive date when people who may feel like a zombie (or want to dress up like one), come together with like minds for charity purposes.

What to expect?

On October 21st, 2023, Zombie Movement is shaking things up a bit and making this the largest zombie charity fest you've seen yet! Located in the heart of Sonoma County CA, at the Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa. Rain or shine, arrive zombified and get ready to lurch, crawl and shamble to raise awareness! This year, we're coming together to raise awareness and funds for the ASPCA, Community Matters, Safe School Ambassadors and Zombie Movement.

We'll meet between 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM (subject to change). During this time, you can show us your best "Monster Mash" moves, lurch through the trunk-or-treat, and check out the vendors, while our volunteers hand out "finalist" slips for best costumes and trunks. We'll shamble our way up/down 4th Street, and return to the Old Courthouse Square. We will finish with our costume contests, trunk-or-treat contests, raffles and hand out prizes.

I'M DYING TO PARTICIPATE! NOW WHAT?

Gather your team of "zombies" and get ready to create a zombie apocalypse!

Attendee donations of $25+ (adults) & $10+ (children 10 & under) or more will be considered your "admission ticket/registration fee."

* Zombie Movement is a 501c3 non-profit. ALL donations are tax deductible. *

Each attendee (walking or trunk-or-treat) must create a team or be a part of a team to attend and qualify for raffles/prizes. ** You must be present at the end of the event to receive event prizes. **

- Follow and tag us on social media. IG @theofficialzombiemovement and FB @zombiemovement ** Updates regarding event, prizes, and timing will be located on our social media only. **

- Select **START A FUNDRAISER** to create your individual fundraiser, team, or join a team. If you set up a "team," you will need to add yourself as a team member after you set up your team.

- Each team member should donate $25 adult/$10 child (separately) for 1 admission ticket/registration entry.

(Example: Please do not donate $50 for 2 team members. This is how we will count how many participants we should expect. A single $50 donation will receive one admission/entry ticket).

- Trunk-or-Treat teams, please create a name specific to your car (or add "TT" for Trunk-or-Treat) within your name. Trunk-or-Treat parking spaces are limited. Trunk-or-Treat spaces are not reserved or guarunteed until a donation of $25 for entry has been made.

- We encourage you to upload a photo and tell a story that will inspire others to join the movement. Example Photos Uploads: You with your adopted pet, adopted pet (alone), pet in costume, previous photo of you in our zombie walk, photo of your car in a trunk or treat, photo of you and your car, photo of you in costume next to your car. Share your personal story and why others should donate and participate.

- Donations can be made through each team without participation. Each team member should set a goal to raise $500 or more.

You'll receive a special wrist band when arriving, along with raffle tickets. Individual donors of $100+ will receive an event t-shirt (participation not required). First team to surpass $500 will receive event swag.

The amount of raffle tickets you will receive varies, depending on team participants and total donation amount.

E-mail us at: ZombieMovementNonProfit@gmail.com with questions or concerns regarding teams, team setup or volunteering.

RULES & DISCLOSURES:

Zombies can be a messy crowd and we'd like to continue our annual movement with pride and a destination of one day hitting the Guinness Book of World Records! When you donate and/or participate, you agree to the following...

You will be kind to others and remember while dressing up and having fun is important, you're participating to help the community and give back. You will be sensitive to the fact that our charity works with real life circumstances and situations. Just because you're dressed up or spectating, does not mean you do/don't fall into a category of someone who has/has not been in a situation that our event is supporting.

You agree not to bring weapons or anything that could be mistaken as a weapon. Attendees with a weapon or resembling a weapon will be asked to take it back to their vehicle and/or leave the event. No paintball guns, cap guns, or BB guns. No axes or swords. No projectile weapons of any kind. Foam (Nerf) guns weapons: the word replica implies "like the real thing."

You agree NOT to touch, scare, or bother anyone you do not know. The Zombie Movement is intended as a fun charity event. This is a public event, not a Haunted House attraction where people pay to be scared. DO NOT lunge, scare, or pretend to attack a stranger. Touching someone without their consent is considered harassment and assault. City laws and regulations still apply throughout the event. This includes staring into and touching windows or touching tables while lurching by.

No walking, crawling, running, or lurching into the street or traffic. Again, a great way to get hurt or arrested, not to mention possibly causing an accident. Zombies use crosswalks and obey the walk/don't walk signs and follow our volunteer guides. We encourage our undead to stay very alive for next year's event.

As fun as it would be, no part of your costume should squirt or project any liquid or objects. We're in a drought and liquid (such as fake blood) will need to be cleaned up and will waste the water of our community. If our zombies continue to keep their costumes on their (undead) person, it's more likely we will continue our event for many more years to come.

Be respectful towards our community and neighbors. No profanities! We will most likely walk by many innocent children and unexpected by standards during the walk. There's no need to warp their minds any further than seeing the walking dead.

Ham it up! You're wearing fake blood, ripped up clothes and walking around moaning in public, doing that louder will not be any more embarrassing (we promise). Besides, it's not likely anyone will know who you are anyways. Walk like a zombie! This is not a speed-walking event, zombies lurch, crawl, limp, slither, etc. Stay in character! We know everyone is excited as are we, but zombies do not truly have the motor or cognitive abilities to operate a camera or cell phone. We have plenty of people who will be documenting the event. Please try to refrain from taking pictures during the actual walk. There will be plenty of time before the walk and after to document the amazing costumes and event. Also, zombies don't have conversations or text their friends.

Stay on public property. Please be respectful of stores and private property. If you're dressed "to impress," and the store or restaurant is not listed as a sponsor, we ask for you to return another day or ask an associate if it's ok to enter the premises.

Do NOT park in residential areas. Please use public parking spaces only.

Ticket holders understand and assume all risks presented by the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, and death. Ticket holders hereby releases, covenants not to sue, discharges and holds harmless Zombie Movement, a 501c3 non-profit Corporation, or the City of Santa Rosa, its employees, agents, and representatives of and from any of the aforementioned claims, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after the event.

The ticket holder agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold Zombie Movement, a 501c3 non-profit Corporation, the City of Santa Rosa and its officers, elected officials, employees, agents and volunteers harmless from and against any and all liability, claims, loss, cost, damage, injury, expense, and liability of every kind, nature and description, where the same arise out of, are a consequence of, or are attributable to, in whole or in part, including but not limited to any claims or lawsuits arising out of any person’s exposure to COVID-19, in any way related to 2023 Sonoma County Zombie Movement.

More importantly... Have fun! Come up with a theme and stay in character as much as possible. Your participation and positive community interaction depends on future events to come!

WHERE DOES MY DONATION GO?

100% of the Zombie Movement team members are volunteers and do not receive a salary. Donations replenish our fund for future events. Our mission is to raise awareness and help assist other 501c3 non-profits (if they're listed on our event page). When another non-profit has been listed on our page, event proceeds will be divided according to our agreement with them. Please feel free to e-mail us at zombiemovementnonprofit@gmail.com for proceed details.
