Blues for Bucks!
Help Us Keep Children Safe

October 2022 marks the 7th Annual Beards for Bucks (now Blues for Bucks) to benefit the Children's Advocacy Center of York County, Maine! York County Law Enforcement spend the month giving up their razor or sporting blue nail polish to raise money and awareness for the work of the CAC!
"What we do today to help one child, can help the next child tomorrow."

Who We Are
The mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of York County is to reduce the trauma of child abuse investigations, foster professional collaboration and cooperation and promote education and advocacy regarding the prevention of child abuse within the community.
During the last 12 months, the York County Children's Advocacy Center performed more than 300 forensic interviews of children.
The CAC of York County is a safe, neutral, child-friendly space that brings all the partners involved in these investigations to one place with the goal of reducing trauma to children, increasing communication between agencies, and holding more offenders accountable. Together, we provide hope and healing to some of our most vulnerable community members.
In the past six years, we've seen over 1400 referrals for children in need of our services.
Why A Child Advocacy Center?
Interviewing children about traumatic events requires specialized training and techniques, because children’s cognitive and verbal abilities are still developing. First developed in the 1980s, Child Advocacy Centers are designed to reduce the stress on children that can be created by traditional investigation and prosecution procedures, and to improve the effectiveness of the response.

As a local, non-profit organization, we are dependent upon the support and donations from our community to ensure we can continue providing exceptional, trauma-informed, care to the children of York County. Please help us by supporting our dedicated law enforcement partners as they raise funds for Blues for Bucks 2022!
